TEACHING FACTORY

One Tech is dedicated in developing highly-skilled and capable woodworkers, designers, and engineers alike. Our teaching factory is designed to ensure that students receive the right guidance in furniture manufacturing through a series of entry-level modules and exposure to high-tech machines as well the local arts.

To date, we have provided over 50 tertiary students with internship opportunities, many of whom derived from top public and private institutions including German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

Training modules

1. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

 

 

  • Computer Design Skill:  Mastering Autocad 2D & 3D

  • Basic Furniture Production: Understanding basic furniture production concepts, from rough milling, fine milling to finishing

  • High Tech Machineries: Handling of CNC, panel saw & edge banding machines

  • Machinery Maintenance: Maintainance of high tech machineries and basic machinery repairment. 

  • Basic Electrical Repair:  Basic repairing of tools and machines with electrical malfunctions

  • Productivity & Quality: Development of an organized 5S lifestyle at workplace and home.

2. EXPOSURE

  • Sustainable living and eco processes 

  • Product design course by renowned designer, Ms. Hani of Lain Design

  • Exposure to design softwares including Google Sketch Up and SolidWorks

  • Entrepreneurial courses: basic accounting & costing skills

  • CIDB Green card: Safety in workplace/construction area

3. EDUCATIONAL VISITS

​

To broaden students' understanding and creativity, our teaching factory organises visits to industry-related landmarks including local design museums, art galleries, and furniture exhibitions:

  • Homag Factory, Singapore: Showcase of high-tech German machineries

  • Factory visits to other furniture manufacturing companies

  • Art galleries including KL gallery, Petronas Gallery, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

  • Local/international furniture fairs and exhibitions
